Do I need to hire movers?
29 October 2024Moving House? 5 Things To Do Before The Big Day
29 October 2024Whilst moving to a new home is an exciting concept, the act itself can be a pretty daunting thought. After psyching yourself up for the upcoming tasks, you will eventually realise that not everything will go as you plan. Moving takes a lot of planning and constant worrying but it’s worth taking time with the planning to ensure that it works out well in the end. Here we gathered the top 5 tips to help you have a much less stressful move and actually enjoy the process:
1. Accept that stress is a normal
Stress is a natural human response to a demanding circumstance, and can actually be good for you as long as you won’t let it discourage you from the tasks at hand. Overcoming stress when you’re about to move starts with acceptance and projecting possible issues you might incur so you will be able to prepare for or even avoid them.
2. Give yourself time
To avoid getting stressed from feeling like you’re too close to deadlines, get an early start and plan ahead. Allow yourself at least eight weeks prior to your moving date and start doing some stuff such as selling furniture, visiting your favourite places or taking a few walks around the neighbourhood, as well as getting all your documents ready.
3. Stay organised
If you want to make moving less stressful, stay organised and ensure that you have a written plan for tasks that are divided into efficient schedules. You will set yourself up for fewer worries and an easier move as long as you consider and prioritise getting organised.
4. Donât do it alone
Do not hesitate to ask for help when you need it. Whilst it can sometimes be difficult to ask for assistance, try asking your friends and family if they can spare a couple of hours to help you sort, pack or move. Having someone else to lend you an extra pair of hands will not only be helpful in greatly minimising the stress of moving but can also be a great distraction from feeling overwhelmed by the task.
5. Take care of yourself
Most people tend to forget to take care of themselves during the process of moving which is a big no. To ensure that you’ll be making the most of the moment instead of stressing over it, remember not to skip meals and get a decent amount of sleep. Whilst taking care of an organised set of plans, do not forget to make your health a priority as well.
